Cafe Zula - Hummus & More

What?
Cafe Zula is famous in Berlin for it's great hummus dishes. It is told to be the closest to the kind of hummus you get in Israel, so definitely worth a try. All dishes are served with fresh lemon/garlic juice, olives spicy sauce, pickles, onions and warm pita bread.

Location: Husemannstraße 10

Why should you go there?
Best hummus (I've had) in town for a really good price. You can choose from all kinds of plates, with hummus as a basis and additional vegetables, meat or chicken. Also, Zula serves lovely fresh juices and great red wine. Check out the menu here. Last but not least: location, location, location. Zula is situated in a small street close to Kollwitzplatz in Prenzlauerberg, one of my favorite (eating/shopping) areas in Berlin.

Why shouldn't you go there?
Don't bring your meat loving boy- or girlfriend here, there's a big chance that he/ she will be disappointed when (s)he finds out the basis of the menu is really humus and not meat. However, there is always beef soup and mejadra (lentils with rice, onions and chicken/gulasch) as a plan B. Also not recommended: the fried eggplant (side dish). Tried it twice,  not a big success.

Specialty:
(Besides the hummus of course!) Try the 'hausgemachte Pommes'. Yum!
